Class and Group Information
Support Groups
According to the Mayo Clinic:
"Benefits of participating in a support group may include:
Feeling less lonely, isolated or judged
Reducing distress, depression, anxiety or fatigue
Talking openly and honestly about your feelings
Improving skills to cope with challenges
Gaining a sense of empowerment, control or hope
Learning about health, economic or social resources"
Support groups here at HER Perinatal Support aim to help those in the community connect with others in similar situations to feel more connected.
These support groups are meant to be confidential and helpful in nature, and social and mental health resources are available during the group. Through empathetic listening, I hope to help each person that attends my groups feel a little less alone and more understood.
Some of the support groups also contain a gentle exercise component (stated in the description). Be sure to wear comfortable clothing that allows for easy movement. In these sessions, for the first 20-30 minutes, the group is guided through gentle movements based on the group's dynamic needs. This is not meant to be very exerting, but it is always recommended to consult your provider before beginning any new exercise program.
